Eco CongregationEnvironmental Audit St Osmund's Church has undertaken a Green Audit to raise awareness of environmental issues within the church and to consider ways of moving towards more environmentally friendly ways of working.

Eco Congregations We gave a presentation as part of the East Midlands launch of Eco Congregations organised by Going for Green (now ENCAMS)and Churches Together. St Osmund's Church was awarded the eco-congregation award by ENCAMS in June 2002. Click here for link to Eco-congregation website
Can Recycling Project We have been awarded a grant from the SEED Programme (The Social, Economic and Environmental Development Programme)which enabled us to purchase a Can Crusher. We will now be able to deal with more cans and we will be delivering a recycling awareness leaflet in the area during the next six months. Derbyshire County Council Greenwatch Award St Osmund's Church has been awarded two commendations for its environmental projects: 2001 Category 1 - sustainable use of resources 2003 Category 1 - sustainable resources - for setting up and running the Wilmorton Can Recycling Project. Derby & Sandiacre Canal Society The original route of the canal, now a cycleway and footpath, runs immediately past the church. St Osmund's has good links with the Society and supports in principal the restoration of the canal. Click here for link to Derby & Sandiacre Canal Society website
On-going projects Aluminium can recycling - sell to Alton Metals Fabric recycling - give to the Padley Recycling Centre Used stamps - collect to raise money for the Derby & Sandiacre Canal Society Fortnightly Traidcraft Stall selling fairly traded goods.
